Does anyone know the name of this old computer game? and if i could find an online version for free to play? There was this game i played in Elementary school. Im only in 10th grade now so i know someone has to know what it's called. There was this robot guy and he had to solve clues to resue these people. There were rooms you had to go into and solve puzzles and stuff and one of the games was you had to figure out letters or words or something, in the caverns. The main character was a robot and the game is set in like a mansion. If anyone knows the name of this game and where i could find it online to play for free i would really superly appreciate it! Anyone? Can you help me with my writing? Feel free to criticize as you'd like.? I am a teenage writer, and I'd like to know if this story is good enough to kill some time, or not. Feel free to be as harsh as you'd like. Please don't say, "That's good for a teenager." Or anything similar to that. And if this is the worst piece of writing that you have ever read, please state why. Here I go... (again) (this is a continuation of my story beginning, if you'd like to read that, it's on my profile page.) ***Some background information: Where this story is set is in another dimension, one that has a direct link to this one, so, many things there are influenced by things in our own world. On the eastern mainland, where my main character is in right now, in Kai Rae, is the coldest place in her "world". Azure, my protagonist, has a black katana, which is pretty much a samurai sword. Her katana is alive and sentient, it has likes and dislikes. People have had sentient swords before, for a time, it was even common. But then, the swords began turning on their masters, or sulked and refused to come out again, so now, people were careful, and the population of unique swords like that had decreased, although they were still out there. Azure wishes for nothing more than to keep herself together… in all ways possible. She is also cursed, down to the deepest depths of her soul. What this curse does to her is change what was once her blood and flesh into cherry blossoms, leaving her with nothing but bone. At the moment, she's trying to get to the northern lands, where she will find one of the ingredients needed to cure this curse of hers. (This may not make sense, because it is the continued version of what I had written before.) The blood of a sinestra was an ingredient needed to stop this curse. A sinestra was a creature that lived in the northern lands. The word "sinestra" was a word in a language, called Latin by the people on the other side, that meant "left." The creature was called this because if you were ever to tame the beast, it would always be on your left-hand side, loyal to you 'til death. Azure knew that she only had so much time, and needed to find Skyler, her employer, to finish the job and steal whatever exotic object that he desired at the moment. The faster she got this done, the faster she could get to the north, and the faster she could regain control of her body. Azure didn't bother to cover her literally skeletal fingers, Skyler wouldn't care, so long as she got the job done swiftly and silently. Looking up at the sky, at the cherry blossom petals floating along with the wind, she knew they were hers, the remains of the blood and flesh that had once intertwined around the bones of her fist. "It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter." Azure whispered to the wind, her frail words being carried away along with the panicked howling of the winds. "As long as I can move, it doesn't matter..." But Azure was fooling herself, she knew that it did matter, although not for her current situation. The flesh from her fingers was only a small piece of the puzzle that Azure herself was. Only a broken piece, from a broken doll. The part that scared Azure the most, was that she didn't feel a thing. It wasn't exactly as if she had lost her hand, although her whole right hand was only bits of bone, bound together with thin strands of magic. She still could sense that her hand was there. If she had been born blind, she wouldn't have known that anything had happened, that is, except for the absence of pain. While the winds were shrieking like this, she should've felt her skin cracking, a bit of blood dripping from the split skin. But she didn't. Holding Ashlyre, ignoring the the canine whine the came from sword, Azure brought the slender, black, blade down on her right hand with unnecessary force. All that happened was that the her bones broke apart from each other, affected by the shock of the hit, but that was only for a moment before they pieced themselves back together with an audible snick. For a moment, Azure could see the slim, electric blue strands of the magic, weaving her the small bones back together. It wasn't her magic, but the curse's. Sighing, and not wanting to waste a moment more on the issues with her physical condition, Azure switched Ashlyre back to her right hand. Although she could switch the sword between both hands, her preference was to keep in in her right. People didn't know she was ambidextrous, and she'd like to keep it that way. In battles, if you were arrogant (which many were), it was easy to assume that your opponent, appearing thin, small, weak, and female, could only be an amateur fighter, and could only attack with the hand that held the sword. Even though some assumed that, they would be wrong. Azure's fighting style kept her sheath in her left hand, for defense, and her blade in her right, mainly for offense. Once the opponent had "figured out" her tricks, she would switch the weapons held in each hand and proceed to knock out her oppone But losing his voice must've been what had happened. She had grown up with the 17-year-old, always aware of what he condition he was in, whether he had a broken bone, or had simply fell into a puddle. She had never made a move to help him, because he had never asked. Azure had always thought of life as a battle, and she was sure that Skyler would always be fighting. If she were to help him out without even the tiniest notion that he wanted her to would be like an insult. Attempting to help someone without being asked, was like degrading their strength. It was like you were automatically assuming that they were so weak that they couldn't even fight their own battles. Before he had come to her when she was 14, as a client, she hadn't stepped in his life once. Azure hadn't been a well-known thief, and had less than a flake of gold to her name. It was confusing about how he knew her, but she had done the job well, and now, a year later, here she was, doing yet another job for Skyler. Sorry that it's so long and that I couldn't fit everything in. Ashlyre could "speak" if she wished to, but it took a lot of energy for her to enter her master's mind and leave without disrupting the delicate balence of her memories. So, the two communicated by both sounds and words. There was nothing Azure could do to comfort her katana, nor was there anything that her katana could do to comfort her. As odd as that may sound, it was nescessary to be syncronized, and ready to fight when the time came. Having useless emotions while in battle would do nothing but get you killed. Azure found Skyler in his favorite place. The shadows of the allyway closest to the baker Declan's shop. Skyler was surrounded by shadows at all times, whether he wanted to be, or not. It was because he was Special. Or as some liked to refer to people that were in possesion of magic as, Tainted. There were people out there, many people, There were people out there, many people, that truly believed that people that could hold magic in their palms were tainted. It was because magic came from the soul. Since this dimension of theirs was created from raw power itself, the walls of the dimension could sometimes resonate with certain souls. That resonation was considered as magic. Therefore, since it was only certain souls that this strange occurance happened to, there were people that belived that the reason that they could wield magic was because their souls were tainted. The obvious appearence of Skyler's magic was something that, if anything, strengthened that ridiculous notion of being Tainted. His magic surrounded him like a seperate entity, almost reaching, clawing at anything and everything. It seemed like the shadows themselves were afraid if this unknown substance. The very air around him made was hard to breathe, and the clawing fingers of his power seemed cruel. People stayed as far away from this man People stayed as far away from this man as possible, and it was quite clear why. Sometimes, Azure wondered what she was doing walking toward what many ran away from. The terrible truth that she had come to was that many were scared of death, and that for her, death was but a dream. It seemed that death was what shadows represented for some, because it was their instinct to run from that which may harm, that which may kill. And many ran away from Skyler. She continued walking toward him, and he looked up at her, beginning to walk north, toward the castle. It was obvious that he wanted her to follow him, and so she did. He held out a bell and Azure snatched it from his hand. This was unusual for him to be so quiet, and his silence ticked her off. Was she not even worth a few words anymore? "I bet you're ticked off at me being so quiet." Azure heard him, but barely. It sounded less like he lost his voice, and more like he lost the will to fight. My Friends and other people find this odd, What is so odd about it? Well I was talking to a internship program for Forensic Science & Medicine, Were you can go through everything a CSI does and then after that 2 week period is over you go in for another 2 weeks shadowing and learning about several fields in medicine. They asked a little about my learning style (Because GPA doesn't count due to my situation) I told them in Elementary School I loved to read in 2nd grade I was on 4th Grade Level and Got the highest medal for winning the regional science fair. In 3rd Grade I was on a 7th Grade Reading Level and won the science fair again. When I was in 4th Grade I was reading at a High School Level and nearly read every interesting book in my school's library (No way in my life will I ready Dance of the Swans, Its not my cup of tea.) and won the science fair again. 5th Grade I was still on a high school reading level but more like what a junior might read and I nearly won the science fair I got 2nd Place and someone robbed my $100 Prize so I was about to kill someone. During this entire time everyone though I was ADHD because I could pick up a book and zone everyone out, as well as do it for a TV. I also could wiz around a windows 95. I tested Negative for ADHD and they gave my mom the differential of your child has a "Fast Brain", due to my excessive stumbling over words, umms and ahhh when I talk and my "Odd" Behavior. Middle School I was still somewhat of a Genius, a Slacker Genius but a Genius. Read books, Rocked in Science Class, Rocked in History, Zoned out Reading in English, Failing in Band, Playing Nitendo in Gym and writing a novel (I was stupid and was writing a Sequel to Eragon, Called Emerelda) and flirting with a fellow hot gamer who was into Runescape and Writing my Novel and Harvest Moon as I was. I also got into MAJOR trouble the AP knew me by name. High School-Several Computer Hacking Problems, 2 Skipping and 1 Inappropriate Behavior (My Word V.S Hers she pulls the I'm a girl charge and gets off Scott free) and a Failing GPA until my report card last week Was B,B,B,B,D,A,D It was pretty good for me slacking off and sleeping And before school 2 days after my 16th Birthday I overdose after running around looking for subway and run around the park hallucinating. about 2 weeks in a Pych Ward they come up with bipolar type 1 and I meet my future girlfriend/ex-girlfriend in there. Turns out she loved me and I loved her but she has commitment issues or there is some unspoken reason why she decided on the break Anyway the question is, People find it strange for me to be that good in elementary school offering to get bumped up to middle school and me end up with a Long list of Conduct Problems and Bipolar ticked on my chart. My mom cracked the puzzle a while ago stating she think I am not interested in whatever they are doing, Teaching Algerbra 1 or something that I know etc. Something that I get bored of because I more interested in doing Pychology, Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, Pysics, Earth Space Science, Anatomy, learn some about medicine. etc. People just find it odd and I don't see how? Anyone have any good puzzle/scavenger hunt ideas? Each year at Christmas, we make up a kind of scavenger hunt where people have to solve clues that eventually lead to where a present is hidden (yes, my family is a little nutty). We do things like a word search where the left over letters spell a clue, or a pictures-for-words clue, or unscramble the letters kind of stuff. Nothing too hard, but not simple either. We've been doing this for many, many years, though, and I feel like some of our ideas are kind of stale so am looking for a new influx of ideas. Anyone have any good puzzle/clue suggestions? To clarify, this is not a "find a fake mustache and an expired coupon" kind of scavenger hunt, but a series of puzzles that lead to a final clue. Hey guys. Some trouble with my best friend. Any advice/input? Hey guys. Well, first to let me start off, I am a guy, and the reason Im asking the following question is because, if you havent already guessed, I am pretty sensitive. Anyway. Yeah, one of my very best friends is a guy as well (don't really know why I had to put that though). Pretty much, over the last several months I haven't seen much of him. He's a huge guy at freakin 6'5 tall. He plays on an AAU basketball team and claims to have a tournament every weekend (usually in New York, he claims). Now , I've asked his girlfriend about this as well, to see if he had been telling the truth, and I have become extremely good friends with her as well, so I always take her word for things too. She said that he is telling the truth, so I buy it. The problem is though, I notice that he is usually free on Sundays. . . .well, given the things I have been told, and from other things, I have come to this conclusion that he is, indeed free on Sundays, for the most part. Now, the thing that is getting to me is that he will rarely ever call me or anything. He rarely ever returns my texts as well. And it actually realy upsets me, because I know he's always all over his phone, yet he can't seem to find the time to send me a Goddam text message, even when I send him something important. I constantly try to catch up with him, and see how he is doing, but he just never gives me a response. He isn't the sensitive type at all, keep in mind, so maybe he doesn't see where I am coming from. But I would think he would take one damn minute out of his time to throw me a text. I mean Jesus. But then again, I dont completely know his situation. For about a year after I strated to become friends with him, I realized that he is a very busy kid, in regard to extracurricular activites and such, but . . .eh. . .I don't know guys. It truly puzzles me. The guys has always been there for me. Even when I gave him a quick ring a few months back, whil he was at a party with his girl. My best friend that I had known since I was 6 was put into prison for killing his parents. Out of nowhere, he unexectedly shows up and, to say the least, I appreciated it to no end. At that point, he was really the only true firend I had, besides his girl, now. Anyway, again, I know that he is busy all the time, but, in reality, why the hell can't he find the time to at least check up on me for a damn change? Hell, to even respond to me? It really doesn't make any sence in my perspective, and it seems extremely selfish. I have done many, many things for him in the pas as well, some small, some as big as the situation I stated above. And just. . .I have no idea how I can get through to him at all. Shoul I just say #$%@ it and just get on with my life, and quit worrying about someone who gives no effort for our friendship? Or. . .what should I do? PS: I also have noticed alot of the time that he IS free on Sundays, he chooses to hang with a kid named Sean in my school that we are btoh ok with. Meeting someone in this day and age? Im 22 now and get quite depressed most days because when you think about it there is nearly 7 billion people in this world yet getting close to just one is an impossible task. I don't have (or ever had) any friends, girlfriends or things that some people take for granted because to put it bluntly people just couldn't give the slightest ****. But yes, it baffles me how people actually meet other people. First thing is time constraint, you work all day then come home say 5pm, after that you need to do essential tasks like eating, having a bath or shower and perhaps tasks around the home. If done quickly enough you will be done by 7-8pm. What can you do at that time of night? A quick look out the window or drive down the road will tell you a lot of people start going to bed, settling down in their own homes and defiantly not out and about. This happens Mon-Fri. Little free time but at the wrong time if you know what i mean. Saturday is the only day where you have a full day of free time to do something, Sunday (especially night) is as dead as a week day. Chores (washing, maintenance etc) have to be done and people are getting ready for work on the Monday to start the cycle again. 52 days of free time in a whole year, how the people who work nights, sleep in the day and work weekends do it i will never understand. So what can you actually do about it? When i was younger(and still see it being told now to young children) i was led to believe people like to be approached and talked to, smiled at, interacted with etc. Very wrong. Disturbing someone no matter if they aren't busy does not get any positive result, a smile gets a strange look back, trying to strike up a conversation gets a one word answer if they even stop and respond at all. The usual answer to this (especially on Y/A) is to join some sort of activity club or group for something your interested in yet just because you share an activity together does not mean they are going to be any less uncaring and cold then somebody random on the street, i tried this many times at many places from the gym (ear phones in, in the corner and facing the wall is an obvious sign they don't want to be bothered) to the place where i work (If its not work related they don't want to know and if it is then its brief and to the point). Its strange because its really not a problem with me, if you saw me you wouldn't think any of this could possibly come out of my head, i dont dump beliefs or negativity on people when i approach them, im not deformed, ugly, intimidating or strange in any way (dress sense, body language etc) so there is no good reason for people to automatically be avoidant and distant. Because admit it people still have a lot of shallowness in them and these things (plus many others) are things people will avoid off the mark because they dont want to be associated with them. No matter what manner you speak to them in be it friendly, jokingly, dominant, submissive or plain old "bad wheather, ay?" its all the same distant and uncaring outcome. But as i say it puzzles me how others manage to do it when i do nothing different and nothing wrong yet get a completly different outcome. I notice people that have less time, put next to no effort in, dont actually go anywhere or do anything much but as a result obtain a large social circle of friends with a nice loving partner. Any ideas how that works? or any of it for that matter? (I would have put this in social science but a question gets looked at every few days there and dating section is full of pre teen girls with generic "get yourself out there" or the "wait and you will find someone special" response that they are made to believe in out of pure false hope by their parents and teachers.) A red swirl sign takes up one side of the card, while the location of the park, and the words: "open from midnight to dawn" are written on the other. Puzzled, he turns back to the person running the stand; only to find that the girl he was talking with earlier had vanished from sight. Later that evening, Blake and Quinn have an argument. During the night, Blake is woken up by police sirens, and finds Quinn in a coma-like state. As the medics carry Quinn out, Blake sees the bear on the ground and finds the invitation missing. Blake decides to go to the park to confront Quinn, and picks up Maggie and Russ along the way. Despite not having an invitation anymore, they are let in after the employee consults his superior, the letter having expected Blake they are given the rules of the park, ride seven rides by dawn or stay at the park forever. Neal Shusterman, author of Full Tilt shows Full Tilt is a Gothic novel, because he incorporates very specific details to create setting, conflict, character, and ultimately atmosphere. The author uses many gothic elements throughout the story, he expresses contrast, associations of guilt, which goes back to contrast of Man vs. Self, and he uses Predatory Overtones for suspenseful foreshadowing, and he elaborates in detail on characterization. Shusterman uses conflict throughout the novel by elaborating on their internal conflicts inside the amusement park. Full Tilt by Neal Shusterman is also a gothic novel, because it contains elements of screams, altered senses, and predatory overtones. Full Tilt has the Gothic element “Predatory Overtones” which is suspenseful foreshadowing through description and word choice. For example, Quinn states, “I go places sometimes”(9). He later says this numerous times, this is foreshadowing, for instance when his body is there, but his spirit, or soul is gone, this can also be altered senses. A chapter is called” I go places sometimes.” This foreshadows and shows you conflict, he also says this a few times for a suspenseful effect, knowing this must be important. Blake goes back to his childhood, the book says, “I am there again, I am seven…” (184). Later you will see in the book his fear to ride you also see it in the beginning, “The Yellow Bus” incident. Later on Blake overcomes this fear, and he has to ride a ride that associates with personal conflict and save his friendsBlake says dramatically “This place is going to get her” . his might foreshadow that they will not make it, and her soul will be kept. Blake does not include himself, which tells us she may have conflict in the future. As a result, the author uses Predatory Overtones to create suspenseful foreshadowing. Full Tilt contains the gothic of Altered Senses this expresses character physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Blake states to Maggie and Russ in the beginning of the novel, that “Quinn’s body is here but he isn’t”(54). This expresses character spiritually, because his soul is gone but he is physically there. This form of characterization is also physically, because he is still physically enact. Quinn is a miss understood teen partially, and in the novel, Blake says, “Then he put on his hat, effectively flipping me off without lifting a finger“(54).This is emotional characterization, because in the text it uses the keyword “effectively”. This text shows how a physical act can hurt him emotionally, because he is obviously not crying.. As a result, the author uses altered senses for physical, spiritual, and emotional characterization. Full tilt contains the gothic element of Screams, which is an internal conflict of the character and himself. For example, Blake says, “I regretted the moment I said it, but it was too late” (33). In this, Blake shows maturity. This is internal conflict, because this is self-guilt, which can also be the Gothic Element of Bloody Hands. This hurts Blake, and as a sign of maturity, this occurs to him as opposed to Quinn, he would not care. I work at a call center dispatching roadside assistance, sometimes the calls are really few, and between calls I get really booooooooooored. I want to play online games between calls but since it is the company computer I am not allowed to download any games to be played on the computer I work with because of dangerous computer viruses that could infect my employer's PC. My employer is okay with me playing games online between calls, but does not want us to download anything in order to protect their server against attacks, besides, the computer has a thing called Surf Control that denies me access to certain sites to play games.
